Art changes with your viewpoint
Texture brings another dimension to the way a piece is seen. Raised marks, layered surfaces and metallic details can read differently as you move around a room or as daylight changes.
Ask to see the details
When considering a piece online, look for close-up photographs and video as well as a straight-on view. They can help show the surface, though a screen cannot reproduce every material or colour exactly.
Think about the whole room
Consider how a textured piece sits alongside linen, timber, plaster or polished finishes in your space. Share those materials with the studio if you are planning a custom painting.
