Begin with the feeling
Think about how you use the room. A restful bedroom, a lively gathering space and a focused work corner can each call for a different visual rhythm. Gather a few words that describe the feeling you are after before choosing colours or dimensions.
Measure before you decide
Measure the available wall and the furniture below it. Use paper or removable tape to outline a possible artwork size, then step back and look from the doorway and your usual seat. Leave room around the piece so it can be seen clearly.
Look at the light
Notice the wall in morning and evening light. Bright light can bring out texture, while reflections can change how a surface appears. Share photographs of the room and its lighting when discussing a custom painting.
